Not all kids are the same – we need individualized treatment plans for each child. This interactive, on-demand course introduces you to how Surestep’s new lower extremity orthoses have you covered to manage your patients from hypotonia and hypermobility to hypertonia and stiffness. Course Objectives

  • Brief understanding of gait development and developmental goals for ambulation levels.
  • Understand the difference between dynamic stability and static stability and when patients can benefit from each.
  • Recognize benefits of Surestep Core Products (Surestep SMO, Toe Walking SMO, Open Heel Modification, Advanced AFO, 2 Stage AFO) and apply it to treatment plans.
  • Recognize the differences between Functional Support and Alignment for solid AFOs and apply it to treatment plans.
  • Recognize the differences between Functional Support and Alignment for PLS AFOs and apply it to treatment plans.
  • Recognize the differences between Functional Support and Alignment for articulated AFOs and apply it to treatment plans.
  • Differentiate between the different contracture management options.
  • Review best practices for measuring and fitting.
  • Understand how to order Surestep SMOs and AFOs.
  • Explain the donning, doffing, wear and care of Surestep SMOs and AFOs to families.
