Open Heel SMO3D
The Open Heel SMO3D enhances proprioceptive feedback and promotes balanced, efficient walking for children with anterior weight lines or sensory deficits. Its flexible TPU allows for compression of the heel fat pad for increased sensation, slowing loading response, and supporting effective heel-toe walking and stability. Clinicians can expect increased heel awareness, better balance, controlled contact, and improved squatting mechanics for functional gains.

Indications:

Contraindications:
- Needs full footplate
- 3D Printed from PA12 Nylon, and TPU
- Fabricated based on measurements, cast, or scan
- Weight limit ≤ 80 lbs

Dynamic Stability:
These devices provide stability while allowing for flexibility/movement and address atypical tone. Patients are able to actively correct when cued.
Currently, the Open Heel SMO3D is a more standardized device due to the manufacturing process. If customization is required beyond what we offer in the ordering portal, we recommend exploring thermoplastic options like the Surestep Open Heel SMO.
